The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally rose to 373,144 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Tuesday 1,524 new infections, marking the second consecutive day where new cases reported did not exceed the 2,000 mark.
According to the latest DOH data, 15 Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their reports on time.
Bulk of the new cases came from Negros Occidental with 115; Cavite with 76; Benguet with 72; Quezon City with 67; and Laguna with 65.
Currently, 37,489 remaining active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 82.9 percent are mild, 11 percent are asymptomatic, 2.2 percent are severe, and 4 percent are in critical condition.
The country’s recovery rate increased to 328,602 with 353 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll stands at 7,053 with 14 new fatalities.
The Philippines sits on the 20th spot in the world for the most number of Covid-19 cases, trailing behind neighbor Indonesia on the 19th spot with 393,454 cases. RJ Espartinez
