The Philippines, as of Tuesday, has more than 197,164 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

The Department of Health confirmed 2,965 additional cases, which mostly came from Metro Manila (1,575). It was followed by Negros Occidental (237), Laguna (151), Cavite (129) and Batangas (95).

The DOH said the results came from 86 out of 106 operational laboratories

The country currently has 61,730 active cases.

The number of COVID-19 survivors increased by 368 to 132,396. Total recoveries accounted for around 67% of the nation’s total case count.

Thirty four more fatalities were reported, bringing the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 3,038. Twenty-two of the deaths came from Metro Manila.

The Health Department also reported that five cases  previously reported as deaths were updated as recovered cases. One case, which was previously reported as a recovered case, was later updated as a death after final validation.

The Philippines still leads Southeast Asia with the most number of cases, followed by Indonesia with 157,859 and Singapore with 56,435.  Rommel F. Lopez
