The Department of Health (DOH) announced Tuesday that the Philippines is now considered as low risk for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Magagandang balita dahil lahat po ng areas natin ngayon sa ating bansa, maski po ‘yung nasa ilalim ng Alert Level 2 ay low risk na ang kanilang classification,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a briefing.

Vergeire noted that the DOH is now increasing vaccination rates in places still under Alert Level 2 to help them deescalate to Alert Level 1.

She added that restrictions in Metro Manila and 39 other areas are continuously being reduced due to high vaccination rates and compliance with public health standards.

“Wala pa rin tayong muling nakikitang pagtaas ng kaso sa kahit anong lugar sa ating bansa,” Vergeire said.

Meanwhile, the health department said that the Deltacron variant, the hybrid of the Delta and Omicron variants, are not yet detected in the country.

Vergeire mentioned that Deltacron is not yet a variant of concern in the country.

“Ang sabi ng mga eksperto, base rin sa pagaaral, pinagaaralan pa further if it will cause more severity, if it will cause more transmissibility,” she said.

“Pero ngayon base sa mga obserbasyon, wala silang nakikita na kaibahan nito sa ating mga variants na currently present,” she added.

Deltacron has been found in France, Denmark, and the Netherlands, according to Vergeire. Ronald Espartinez
