The Department of Health (DOH) said the Philippines needs around 106,000 nurses to fill the shortage being experienced in all healthcare facilities in the country.

“We have a shortage or a gap of 106,000 para mapunuan natin yung mga facilities all over the country, both public and private,” DOH officer-in-charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire said Thursday.

Additional medical workers like midwives and dentists are also needed, Vergeire added.

“Sa ngayon meron tayong mga plantilla positions that are still to be filled up sa ating mga ospital. We have around 624 plantilla positions for nurses; we have 1,332 midwives plantilla; and we have around 63 dentists na kailangan natin,” Vergeire said.

“So kailangan namin ang tulong niyo sa ngayon para mag-continue ang operations ng bawat facility sa ating bansa.”
