The Philippines is looking to donate two million doses of the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine to Myanmar, a health official said on Wednesday.

In “Laging Handa” briefing, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said negotiations were still ongoing for the donation.

“We are negotiating with Myanmar. Ang hirap ng proseso. We are awaiting the concurrence of the government of Myanmar, kasi ang pagbibigyan natin ay Red Cross ng Myanmar,” she said.

The donation may be made by late-June or early-July, Cabotaje said.

The Philippines has administered 152,669,814 Covid-19 doses as of June 21.

Of the number, 67,844,171 were used as first shots, 70,094,708 to fully vaccinate and 14,730,935 as booster shots.
