The Philippines posted its record-high number of patients recovering from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on a single day with 301 new patients winning the fight against the dreaded disease.
The country’s total number of COVID-19 recoveries is now at 6,552, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Tuesday
However, 364 new COVID-19 infections were also reported, elevating the country’s tally to 26,781.
249 of the new cases are “fresh” or newly validated: 128 came from Metro Manila, 56 are from Region VII, while the remaining 65 are spread out across the country.
115 of the new cases reported late: 24 came from Metro Manila, 3 came from Region VII, while the 88 other patients came from various locations nationwide.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire shared that the three previously reported negative cases were removed from the total tally of infections.
Death toll due to the respiratory disease continues to increase with 5 new deaths, bringing the total number to 1,103.
Singapore remains on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 40,969. Indonesia—which is about to beat Singapore for the top spot—closely behind with 40,400 cases trailed by the Philippines. (RJ Espartinez)
