The Philippines posted a new record high 807 recoveries, increasing the total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) survivors to 14,037, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Saturday.
The DOH also confirmed that the country passed the 54,000 mark on COVID-19 after 1,387 new infections were reported, bring the country’s tally to 54,222
According to the DOH, 918 of the new cases are “fresh” or newly validated. The National Capital Region topped the ranking with 261 cases, trailed by Region VII with 62, while the remaining 595 cases came from other areas across the country.
Meanwhile, 469 of the new cases are late: 178 came from the National Capital Region, 15 came from Region VII, while 276 cases came from other areas across the country.
Currently, there are 38,813 active COVID-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine.
The DOH confirmed 12 new deaths due to the viral disease bringing the country’s total fatalities to 1,372. (RJ Espartinez)
