The Philippines logged a new all-time single-day high of 22,366 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,976,202.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), today’s infections beat the earlier cases recorded on August 28 at 19,441.

Currently, there are 148,594 active Covid-19 patients undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine: 95.7% are mild, 1.7% are asymptomatic, 1.1% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 1,794,278 with 16,864 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 33,330 with 222 new fatalities.

The health department confirmed that two Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

The DOH also said that 187 duplicates were removed from the nationwide tally. Moreover, 105 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. Ronald Espartinez
