The Philippines on Thursday registered 989 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the nationwide tally to 3,664,905. 

The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were operational since March 1. However, five labs failed to submit their reports on time. 

Among the new cases today, 879 or 89% happened within the recent 14 days from February 18 to March 3, 2022.

The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the number of cases at 192 or 22%; followed by Region 4-A with 111 or 13%; and Region 7 with 101 or 11%.

Currently, there are 50,458 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 463 are asymptomatic, 45,510 are mild, 2,773 are moderate, 1,415 are severe, and 297 are critical.

Total Covid recoveries climbed to 3,557,909 with 1,349 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 56,538 with 34 new fatalities. – Ronald Espartinez
