The Philippines reported 9,671 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,658,916.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), this brings the active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine to 77,516.

Among the said number, 93.2% are mild, 2.8% are asymptomatic, 1.7% are severe, and 1% are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate climbed to 1,552,278 with 8,079 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 29,122 with 287 new fatalities, the highest recorded since April 9.

The health department also confirmed that 96 duplicates were removed from the nationwide count. Three cases previously declared as recoveries have been validated as active infections. 

Meanwhile, 149 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after confirmation. Ronald Espartinez
