The Philippines reported 8,562 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the country’s tally to 1,580,824.
Today’s number was the highest recorded in a day since May 28.
The Department of Health (DOH) also reported that two Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
The country’s active infections climbed to 61,920, also the highest recorded since May 8.
Among the said number, 94% are mild, 1.2% are asymptomatic, 2.1% are severe, and 1.2% are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate increased to 1,491,182 with 2,854 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, pushed to 27,722 with a whopping 145 new fatalities.
The health agency also confirmed that 25 duplicate cases were removed from the nationwide count.
“Moreover, 2 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases, and 90 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
