The Philippines reported 814 new cases of the highly contagious Omicron Covid-19 variant, the Department of Health (DOH) said. 

A total of 688 new cases of the Omicron BA.5 16 have been found. The latest DOH figures also showed there are 16 new cases of the BA.4 and 110 tagged as “other sublineages.”

Among the new BA.5 cases, 126 of them were discovered in Metro Manila; followed by Western Visayas with 104; and Cagayan Valley with 75. 

Meanwhile, the majority of the new BA.4 infections were found in Soccsksargen at 12. 

The results came from the latest sequencing run conducted from Sept. 16 to 19, the health department said.
