The Philippines reported 7,186 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the country’s tally to 1,562,420.

Today’s count is the highest reported since June 13, but even with the surge, 13 Covid-19 laboratories still failed to submit their daily reports on time, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

This brings the country’s active Covid-19 infection to 56,477: 93.8% are mild, 1.3% are asymptomatic, 2.3% are severe, and 1.1% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 1,478,625 with 5,672 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll climbs to 27,318 with 72 new fatalities.

The health agency also confirmed that 162 duplicate cases were removed from the nationwide count.

“Moreover, 49 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
