The Philippines logged seven new fireworks-related injuries, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The DOH said it has logged a total of 32 fireworks-related injuries from December 21 to 28. During the same period last year, the country only reported 23 cases.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. discouraged the public from using fireworks to welcome the New Year.  He tasked local government units to assign a common area for the fireworks display to lessen injuries.

In 2021, the health department said there were 128 firework-related injuries.
