The Philippines reported 6,664 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,555,396.

This brings the country’s active infections to 55,140, the highest since July 2. 

Among the said number, 93.6% are mild, 1.1% are asymptomatic, 2.3% are severe, and 1.4% are in critical condition.

The Department of Health (DOH) also confirmed that eight Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 1,473,009 with 5,766 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, reaches 27,247 with 23 new fatalities.

The health department also reported 23 cases being removed from the nationwide count. 

“Moreover, 17 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
