The Philippines posted 7,398 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases from June 27 to July 3, 2022, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The DOH said the daily average case of 1,057 cases is 60% higher than the 662 daily average cases posted from June 20 to 26. 

The DOH’s data also logged 497 severe and critical cases currently undergoing medical treatment in hospitals. The number is 8.4% of total Covid-19 admissions. 

The country also recorded 19 new severe and critical infections.

The DOH said there were 74 verified fatalities during the previous weeks. However, none of them happened from June 20 to July 3. 

Meanwhile, the country’s active Covid-19 infections are now at 10,094, the highest number of active Covid-19 cases since April 2022. 

Recoveries now stand at 3,638,690, while the fatality rate was at 60,602. 

The National Capital Region (NCR) posted an uptick of infections in the last 14 days with 5,783; followed by Region IV-A with 2,263; Region VI with 1,014; Region III with 813; and Region VII with 575. — Ronald Espartinez
