The Philippines reported 562 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, Thursday, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,835,996.
Today’s count marks the 16th straight day where new cases reported did not exceed the 1,000 mark.
The Department of Health (DOH) also reported that two Covid-19 laboratories were closed on December 7, 2021.
Currently, there are 12,169 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 851 cases are asymptomatic, 4,838 mild, 3,857 are moderate, 2,177 are severe and 446 are critical.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 2,773,891 with 882 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 49,936 with 176 new fatalities.
However, the DOH said that among the 176 deaths, eight occurred in December 2021 (5%), 12 in November 2021 (7%), 60 in October 2021 (34%), 68 in September 2021 (39%), eight in August 2021 (5%), six in July 2021 (3%), two in June 2021 (1%), one in May 2021 (1%), four in April 2021 (2%), one in March 2021 (1%), four in November 2020 (2%), one in October 2020 (1%), and one in September 2020 (1%).
The health department modified the nationwide count by removing 14 duplicates, as well as 12 recoveries and one death. Ronald Espartinez
