The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally rose to 164,474 after the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday confirmed 3,314 new infections.
The top areas in the country with the most number of new Covid-19 cases are the National Capital Region with 1,656 or 58 percent, Region 4-A with 672 or 24 percent and Region 3 with 131 or 5 percent.
Currently, there are 49,034 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 91.1 percent are mild cases, 6.5 percent are asymptomatic, 1 percent are severe cases, and 1.4 percent are in critical condition.
According to the DOH, the new cases came from 91 out of the 105 operational Covid-19 testing laboratories in the country.
The country’s recovery rate increased to 112,759 after the DOH posted an impressive 237 more patients winning the fight against Covid-19.
Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 2,681 with 18 fatalities.
The Philippines ranked 4th in the world for the most number of new Covid-19 cases, behind Russia’s 4,892, Mexico’s 4,448 and India’s 3,974. RJ Espartinez
