The Philippines posted 3,226 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide tally to 106,330, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed Monday.
This marks the 5th day where the country posted new cases beyond the 3,000 mark.
The top five areas in the country with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases were Metro Manila with 1,541; Cebu with 503; Laguna with 181; Rizal with 158; and Cavite with 129.
Currently, there are 38,405 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 90.3 percent are mild, 8.2 percent are asymptomatic, 0.9 percent are severe, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.
The Health Department also posted 275 recoveries bringing the country’s total to 65,821.
Death, on the other hand, jumped to 2,104 with 46 new fatalities.
Indonesia remains on the top spot for the most number of Covid-19 cases in Southeast Asia at 111,455 closely followed by the Philippines. (RJ Espartinez)
