The Philippines reported 289 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,837,016.

Today’s count marks the third straight day where new cases reported did not exceed the 300 mark. 

The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that three Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time, while four were not operational since December 14. 

Currently, there are 10,095 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 3,870 are mild, 549 are symptomatic, 1,845 are severe, and 389 are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 2,776,425 with 380 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 50,496 with 47 new fatalities. 

The health department said that nine duplicates were removed from the nationwide count. Among the said number, nine are recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
