The Philippines logged a total of 23,883 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections from August 15 to 21, the Department of Health (DOH) said. 

The DOH’s weekly Covid-19 case bulletin showed the infections in the recent week was 15% lower compared to the total cases reported on August 8 to 14, with 28,008 new cases.

Meanwhile, the daily case average for the recent week was reduced to 3,412. 

There are also a total of 321 more verified Covid-19 fatalities. These numbers were reported from January 2021 to August 2022. 

Among the 321 fatalities, 109 occurred in August 2022; 90 in July 2022; 20 in June 2022; three in May 2022; 16 in April 2022; 23 in March 2022; 42 in February 2022; one in January 2022; one in December 2021; one in November 2021; three in October 2021; two in September 2021; three in August 2021; one in June 2021; one in May 2021; three in April 2021; one in March 2021; and one in January 2021.

Ninety of these also occurred from August 8 to August 21 alone.

The country has also vaccinated a total of 72,310,149 people. The number constitutes 92.59% of the government’s target vaccinated population.
