The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally rose to 375,180 after the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday announced 2,053 new infections.

Bulk of the new cases came from Caloocan City with 108; followed by Quezon City with 103; Negros Occidental with 97; Benguet with 93; and Rizal with 85.

Currently, 38,955 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment and quarantine: 83% are mild cases, 11.15% are asymptomatic while 3.8% are critical and 2.2% are severe. 

The country’s recovery rate rose to 329,111 with 540 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll stands at 7,114 with 61 new fatalities.

 

The Philippines remains on the 20th spot globally for the most number of Covid-19 cases, trailing behind neighbor Indonesia with 400,483 cases. RJ Espartinez
