The Philippines posted 1,607 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide tally to 371,630, according to the Department of Health (DOH) Monday. 

According to the latest DOH bulletin, 16 Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their reports on time. 

Bulk of the new cases came from Davao City with 90; followed by Cavite with 88; Rizal with 74; and Negros Occidental and Quezon with 68 each.

Currently, 36,333 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 82.6 percent are mild, 10.9 percent are asymptomatic, 2.3 percent are severe, and 4.1 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate increased to 328,258 with 245 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.  

Death toll stands at 7,039 with 62 new fatalities.

“Moreover, 19 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH added.

The Philippines sits on the 20th spot in the world for the most number of Covid-19 cases, trailing behind neighbor Indonesia which is on the 19th spot with 392,934 cases.
