The Philippines logged on Sunday 16,044 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide tally to 1,839,635.
This marks the third consecutive day where new cases reported exceeded the 16,000 mark.
The Department of Health (DOH) also confirmed that six Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
Currently, there are 125,900 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine: 93.8% are mild, 3.4% are asymptomatic, 1.2% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 1,681,925 with 13,952 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 31,810 with 215 new fatalities.
The Health Department also confirmed that 460 duplicates were successfully removed from the nationwide count. Moreover, 120 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. Ronald Espartinez
