The Philippines reported Wednesday 15,789 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,475,293. 

The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were operational since January 24, but three laboratories failed to submit their reports on time. 

Among the new numbers today, 15,061 or 95% of total cases happened within the recent 14 days from January 13 to 26.

Region 4-A topped the regions in the country with most cases reported at 2,248 or 15% total new cases; followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) with 2,135 or 14%; and Region 7 with 1,520 or 10%.

Currently, there are 230,410 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 6,902 are asymptomatic; 218,711 are mild; 2,982 are moderate; 1,507 are severe; and 308 are critical.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 3,192,219 with 32,712 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 53,664 with 66 new fatalities. 

The DOH confirmed that 142 duplicates were removed from the nationwide count. Among the said number, 80 are recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
