The Philippines caseload for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) increased to 362,243 after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Wednesday 1,509 new infections.

This also marks the fifth straight day where new infections reported did not exceed the 3,000 mark. 

Majority of the new cases came from Rizal with 83; Cavite with 82; Manila City with 66; Baguio with 65; and Iloilo City with 57.

Currently, 43,990 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 83 percent are mild, 11.6 percent are asymptomatic, 2 percent are severe, and 3.4 percent are in critical condition.

According to the latest DOH data, 13 Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their reports on time. 

The country’s recovery rate is now up to 311,506 with 911 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll stands at 6,747 with 60 fatalities: 45 of them died this month.

“Moreover, 16 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH added.

The Philippines retains its 20th spot in the world for the most number of Covid-19 cases, trailing behind neighbor Indonesia on the 19th spot with 373,109.
