The Philippines reported Monday 14,546 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,560,202. 

The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed all Covid-19 laboratories were functional on January 29, but three laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.  

Among the new cases, 10,203 or 70% of total new cases happened from January 18 to January 31, 2022.

Davao Region topped the regions with the most number of new cases with 1,381 or 14% of total new cases; followed by Metro Manila with 1,053 or 10%; and Central Visayas with 973 or 10%.

Currently, there are 190,818 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 8,239 are asymptomatic, 177,584 are mild, 3,126 are moderate, 1,540 are severe and 329 are critical.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 3,315,381 with 26,500 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, pushed to 54,003 with 112 new fatalities. 

The DOH said it removed 24 duplicates, including 11 recoveries, from the nationwide count. Ronald Espartinez
