The Philippines hit a new record low for the number of new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases since July after the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday confirmed 1,383 new infections, raising the nationwide tally to 238,727.
This marks the third straight day where new cases posted were lesser than 3,000.
The top areas in the country with the most number of new infections are Metro Manila at 525; followed by Laguna with 137 new cases; Batangas with 99; Negros Occidental with 77; and Cavite with 69.
Currently, there are 49,931 active Covid-19 cases undergoing treatment or quarantine: 88.3 percent are mild, 8.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, and 2 percent are in critical condition.
The recovery rate in the country increased to 184,906 with 230 more patients winning the fight against Covid-19.
Death toll is now at 3,890 with 15 new fatalities.
The Philippines sits on the 8th spot in the world for the most number of new Covid-19 infections reported on Monday. India ranks 1st which recorded an alarming 6,083 new cases, followed by Russia with 5,185. RJ Espartinez
