The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Thursday, March 19 that the Philippines has 15 new cases of the infectious coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).  

Currently, the total COVID-19 cases in the country is at 217.

In a bit of good news, the health department reported that a patient has successfully recovered from COVID-19. The patient is a 28-year-old Filipino male from Cavite with a travel history from Japan. 

He was admitted at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Parañaque on March 7 but discharged later after testing negative for the disease twice.

The total number of recoveries in the country currently stands at 8.  (RJ Espartinez)
