The Philippines on Sunday night received over two million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

The US-made vaccine jabs came from the Covax facility.

World Health Organization representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe said the country would be given more Pfizer doses from the Covax facility in the coming weeks.

“Over the next week or two, we will bring up to 10 million doses of Pfizer vaccines. That is meant to help the Philippines respond to the current surge and protect as many Filipino lives as possible,” Abeyasinghe said.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the doses would be deployed to Regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 6, 7, 9 and 11.

The country has received 8.6 million Pfizer doses to date, of which nearly 4.7 million came from the Covax facility.

In total, the Philippines has received 64,380,400 Covid-19 vaccine doses from different manufacturers since February. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
