The Philippines exceeded the one million mark for its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 8,929 new infections on Monday.

This brings the nationwide count to 1,006,428.

According to the DOH, nine Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time while molecular labs were not operational. 

The country’s active Covid-19 infections stand at 74,623: 95.4% were mild, 1.4% were asymptomatic, 1.3% were severe, and 1% were critical cases

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 914,952 with 11,333 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 16,853 with 70 new fatalities.

The DOH also confirmed that it successfully removed 23 duplicate cases from the nationwide tally, while 27 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after verification. Ronald dela Cruz
