
The Department of Health (DOH) spotted 656 new Omicron subvariants infections.
The health department said there were 624 new cases of Omicron BA.5 subvariant, based on the September 2 sequencing results.
Among the said BA.5 infections, around 97% of them were local cases. Majority came from Metro Manila with 134; followed by the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with 119; and Calabarzon with 61.
Meanwhile, 13 new BA.4 cases and one new BA.2.12.1 were also discovered.
The health department explained that Covid-19 infections in Visayas are on a plateau, while in Mindanao are “showing signs of plateauing.”
Other areas, on the other hand, are “on a slow downward trend.”
