Fully vaccinated Filipino adults may avail themselves of Covid-19 booster shots starting Dec. 22, the Department of Health (DOH) has announced.

In an advisory, the DOH cited the Food and Drug Administration’s amendment of booster shots’ emergency use authorizations.

“The DOH would like to inform the public that all adults (ages 18 and above) are now eligible to receive a single-dose booster of Covid-19 vaccine at least after three months after the second dose of AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac or Sputnik vaccine,” the department said.

Those who received the single-dose Janssen vaccine will be eligible to receive booster shots two months after their vaccination.

The DOH said booster doses had yet to be allowed for Filipinos below 18 years old.

More than 45 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Nearly 1.2 million have been boosted, while 56.5 million have yet to receive their second doses. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
