The Philippines topped the 63,000 mark on coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases after adding 1,841 more cases, increasing the country’s tally to 63,001, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed Friday.
According to the DOH, 710 of the new cases are “fresh” or newly validated while 1,131 are late.
The top five areas in the country with the highest number of Covid-19 cases are the City of Manila with 441, Quezon City with 140, Mandaluyong City with 96, Cebu City with 87, and Navotas City with 86.
Currently, there are 39,593 active Covid-19 cases: 90.3 percent are mild, 8.8 percent are asymptomatic, 0.4 percent are severe, and 0.4 percent are in critical condition.
The country’s fatality rate inches to 1,660 with 17 new deaths.
The country’s recovery rate continues to jump with an impressive 311 new patients winning against the disease, elevating the tally to 21,748.
Indonesia continues to lead Southeast Asia for the most number of Covid-19 cases at 83,130. The Philippines is second trailed by Singapore with 47,453 cases. (RJ Espartinez)
