The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally crossed the 314,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Thursday 2,415 new infections.
The country’s total caseload is now at 314,079.
This marks the third straight day where new cases posted did not exceed the usual 3,000 mark.
Majority of the new infections reported still came from Metro Manila with 930 cases; followed by Cavite with 238; Rizal with 128; Laguna with 123; and Negros Occidental with 103.
Currently, 54,294 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 86.6 percent are mild, 9 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, and 3.1 percent are in critical condition.
The country’s recovery rate is now at 254,223 with 771 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, is at 5,562 with 59 new fatalities.
“Moreover, 17 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified to deaths after final validation,” the DOH added.
