The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) caseload breached the 1.5 million mark after the Department of Health reported 5,651 new cases on Monday.

This marks the fifth straight day where new infections reported exceeded the 5,000 mark.

Total nationwide caseload is now at 1,513,396.

Currently, there are 47,561 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 91.9% are mild, 2.9% are asymptomatic, 2.7% are severe, and 1.6% are in critical condition.

The Department of Health (DOH) also reported 5,332 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness, pushing the recovery rate to 1,439,049.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbs to 26,786 with 72 new fatalities.

The health department said six Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.

Lastly, 39 cases previously reported as recoveries were also reclassified as deaths after validation. Ronald Espartinez
