The Philippines logged 16,361 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide count to 2,401,916.

Currently, there are 171,142 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine: 92.4% are mild, 2.8% are asymptomatic, 1.4% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.

The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that four Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 2,193,700 with 21,974 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 37,074 with 140 new fatalities. 

The DOH also announced that 61 duplicates were removed from the nationwide count, as well as 60 infections previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after verification. Ronald Espartinez
