The Philippines broke the 13,000 mark for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Wednesday 279 new positive cases, elevating the national tally to 13,221.
150 patients or 54 percent of the new cases came from Metro Manila, 14 individuals were from Region VII, while the remaining 115 cases were spread out across the country.
The death toll, on the other hand, is at 842 after 5 new COVID-19 deaths were reported.
In a bit of good news, 89 more patients successfully won the battle against COVID-19, tallying the total number of recoveries to 2,932.
Singapore remains on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 29,364. Indonesia followed behind with 19,189 cases trailed by the Philippines. (RJ Espartinez)
