More doses of Chinese-made Sinovac and US-made Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines have arrived in the Philippines.

On Friday, the country welcomed 883,350 Pfizer doses from the Covax facility, which were donations from the US government.

Heather Variava, US Embassy chargé d’affaires, said about “5.5 million more” Pfizer doses would be delivered to the Philippines over the next few days.

The latest batch of Pfizer jabs will be deployed to priority areas, particularly to Regions 3, 4-A, 7 and 11, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said.

Some 2.5 million Sinovac doses also arrived in the Philippines on Friday.

The latest vaccine deliveries brought to 74,707,940 the total Covid-19 vaccine doses the Philippines has received since February.

Galvez earlier said the country’s total would breach 100 million this month. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
