Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday said that he would seek reelection in 2022.

Sotto, who replaced the Eusebios who were at the helm of Pasig for 27 years, said he wanted to continue what he had already started as Pasig mayor.

“Definitely,” he said when asked about running for a second term.

“We’ve made a lot of gains. Sa totoo lang, limited ang nagawa namin. A lot of projects, like pushing for universal health care, a lot of it were delayed because of the pandemic,” he said.

“Sa dalawang taong mayor ako, nine months lang yung walang pandemic,” he added.

The mayor also brushed off rumors of him running for the presidency.

“Kalokohan lang ‘yun. Una, I’m 32 ,” he said.

The Constitution requires presidential candidates to be at least 40 years old on the day of elections.

Sotto in February was hailed by the US State Department as a “standard-bearer for a new generation of Philippine politicians” for his anti-corruption initiatives.
