Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto inspects the city’s molecular diagnostic laboratory for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Pasig City will soon open its molecular diagnostic laboratory to test coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Aside from serving as the city’s Covid-19 referral center, the lab will provide enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay testing (ECLIA), polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testings, and tests for other diseases, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and dengue.

“With the nearing 100 percent operations of the city’s molecular diagnostic laboratory, it would address the city’s recent backlogs in testing of Covid-19,”  Mayor Vico Sotto said.

Sotto also said an additional 200 contact tracers have begun work and that retraining and re-orientation have started for staff assigned to the city’s operations center and hotline. Jojo Mangahis
