Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Wednesday said the city had allocated P1.3 billion to purchase laptops and tablets to help teachers and students adapt to online classes.

In an online briefing of the Department of Education, Sotto said all public school students would receive tablets and teachers would be given laptops.

Students taking information and communications technology classes will also receive laptops, he said.

In a Facebook post, Sotto said the distribution of tablets would commence on Sept. 30.

The city has also partnered with FinAsia to install high-speed internet connections in schools.
