Was President Rodrigo Duterte referring to Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso during his Monday night rant?

Palace spokesman Harry Roque on Tuesday refused to confirm the identity of the mayor who was the subject of Duterte’s nationally televised slamming, saying he did not know and could not disclose the local chief executive’s name.

“Wala pong pangalan at walang pangalan ng siyudad na nabanggit ang ating presidente. Bilang tagapagsalita, I cannot add doon sa hindi inilabas ng ating pangulo,” Roque told reporters during a Palace briefing.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was the only Metro Manila mayor who fit Duterte’s description.

During his rant, the president said he was irate over a certain mayor’s past sexy photos on Facebook, and said the local chief executive was inept in cash aid distribution.

Domagoso had played sexy roles as an actor in the past.

Roque said Duterte, who openly admitted touching the private parts of his family’s maid when he was young and has often made misogynistic remarks, was still more decent than the mayor.

The spokesman’s reason? Because “the president never posts pictures like those.”

Roque also denied that the president had a double standard for bashing the mayor for having sexy photos in the past and appointing Mocha Uson, a former sexy star, to an Overseas Workers Welfare Administration post.

“Si Mocha Uson, well, na-appoint po iyan pero hindi ko naman po alam kung ano talaga nakaraan ni Mocha Uson ‘no sa totoo lang po ‘no. Ang sinasabi ko lang is the president gave her a second chance and I think she took advantage of the second chance,” Roque said.

Domagoso is among the politicians said to be eyeing the presidency and the vice presidency in the 2022 national elections.

In a pre-election survey conducted by the OCTA Research Team, Domagoso had the third highest rating for president (highest was Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio) and was the second most preferred vice president (President Duterte was in first place). John Ezekiel J. Hirro
