Malacanang on Friday denied that Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines were being sent to President Rodrigo Duterte’s home city of Davao on purpose.

In a Laging Handa briefing, Duterte’s spokesman Harry Roque said that Pfizer vaccines were being sent to localities with sufficient vaccine facilities that could handle stringent conditions.

“Well, talaga pong ang Pfizer ay binibigay lang sa Metro Manila, Metro Cebu at Metro Davao kasi ito lang po iyong mga lugar na mayroong sub-zero facilities na kinakailangan ng Pfizer,” he said.

“Wala pong preferential treatment iyan, realidad lang po ‘no na talagang Pfizer was made for first-world conditions,” he added.

The country has received 193,050 doses of the Pfizer vaccine so far.

Health officials have said more than two million doses of the US-made vaccine were expected to arrive in June.

Pfizer is the second most-preferred vaccine brand of Filipinos, according to a recent survey by the Social Weather Stations. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
