Malacañang on Monday said it would be up to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to explain the appointment of actor Robin Padilla as the Philippine Army multi-sectoral advisory board’s strategic communications committee chief.
Asked to comment on Padilla’s designation, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said: “Ipinauubaya ko na po iyan sa AFP.”
However, Palace spokesman Harry Roque admitted that as a well-known personality, Padilla has the ability to influence people.
“Hindi natin matatangihan na iyong mga media personalities like Robin Padilla, e sila po talaga ay kilala ng tao at pinakikinggan po ng tao,” Roque said.
Padilla was named to the position last July 30.
Also a member of the military’s reserved forces, Padilla was initially appointed to the board on July 8, alongside Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the president’s daughter.
The multi-sectoral board is led by Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Charito Plaza.
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and actor Matteo Guidicelli are also part of the board. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
