Two outspoken prelates urged Filipinos to be vigilant and brave on Sunday, the eve of President Rodrigo Duterte’s fifth State of the Nation Address.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan and Manila Apostolic Administrator Broderick Pabillo gave their messages in a video titled “PANANAWAGAN: A Call to Prayer and Action.”

“Isang pananawagan sa Maykapal, mula sa bayang nasasakdal. Panginoon, sa panahon ng kadiliman at pandemya. Alagaan mo ang iyong bayan, gabayan mo ang iyong bayan,” Villegas said.

Pabillo urged citizens to let their voices be heard “amidst the plague of terror and deception, the pestilence of violence and injustice, the disease of greed and corruption.”

The video featured the music of papal awardee and National Artist Ryan Cayabyab performed by the San Miguel Master Chorale and the San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra. Isabel Macaraeg
