The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that at least 1,228 families or 4,143 people are still in evacuation centers amid the Alert Level 3 status raised over Taal Volcano. 

According to the situation report by the PNP’s Public Information Office, eight barangays in Batangas have been evacuated: Barangays Banyaga and Bilibinwang in Agoncillo; Buso-Buso, Gulod, and Bugaan East in Laurel; Palsara in Balete; Quilling in Talisay and Don Juan in Cuenca.

Majority of the evacuees came from Agoncillo with nine evacuation centers and Laurel with eight evacuation centers. 

The PNP said it has deployed over 100 police officers to maintain peace and order in the whole area. 

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has earlier raised the alert level over Taal Volcano from 2 to 3 after a phreatomagmatic eruption at the main crater. Ronald Espartinez
