On the first day of being under the stricter modified enhanced community quarantine, the Department of Health (DOH) Davao region reported 519 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases bringing its total active cases to 9,657.
 
Total cases recorded since the pandemic started is now at 43,325.
 
Of these new cases, 274 are from Davao City, 97 from Davao del Norte, 51 from Davao del Sur, 47 from Davao de Oro, 28 from Davao Oriental, and 22 from Davao Occidental.
 
The region also logged in 400 recoveries today bringing the total number of recoveries to 32,240.
 
Total deaths is now at 1,428 after 10 deaths were reported today. Among these, 4 are from Davao del Norte, 3 from Davao de Oro, 2 from Davao City, and 1 from Davao Oriental.
 
 

The entire region was placed under MECQ from July 1 until July 15 after a recent surge of local cases.

Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown and the epicenter of the pandemic in Mindanao, had been under MECQ since June 5.

Duterte’s latest pronouncement placed all the provinces in the region under MECQ, namely: Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental.

Davao City has been under MECQ since June 5.

Davao City has 4,649 active cases, the highest in the region.  This was followed by Davao del Norte (2,436), Davao del Sur (1,139), Davao de Oro (898), Davao Oriental (359) and Davao Occidental (176). – Rommel F. Lopez
