A six-month long preventive suspension against the 13 former and incumbent Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) officials has been ordered by Ombudsman Samuel Martires.
The two suspension orders were implemented last August 18.
The suspended Philhealth officials are:
- Dennis Mas, Senior Vice President, Management Services Sector
- Shirley Domingo, Vice President, Corporate Affairs Group
- Rodolfo del Rosario, Jr., Senior Vice President
- Leila Tuazon, Acting Senior Manager Operations, Audit Department
- Clementine Bautista, Vice President, Quality Assurance Group
These officials are currently involved in the corruption scandal rocking the state health agency.
Meanwhile, the former PhilHealth officials who were also suspended be y the Ombudsman are:
- Roy Ferrer
- Celestina Ma. Jude dela Serna
- Raul Dominic Badilla
- Israel Paragas
- Angelito Grande
- Lawrence Mijares and
- Eugenio Donatos II
- Ruben Basa
There are no further details yet on why the Office of the Ombudsman issued the suspension orders.
The Senate, the House of Representatives, and the special task force from Malacañang are currently investigating the alleged corruption within PhilHealth.
However, PhilHealth posted on its Twitter account that they have yet to obtain a copy of the Ombudsman’s order and that the involved officials “are not aware” of the charges against them.
“As of this time, the concerned officers are not aware of the charges against them. We will issue a full statement as soon as we get hold of the said order,” the state insurer said.
