The OCTA Research Team on Friday backtracked from its earlier report that the growth rate of Covid-19 in Metro Manila could have peaked in mid-July as it said there was a new increasing trend.

“The daily positivity rate in the NCR is increasing again. It was previously at its highest on July 15 when it was at 14 percent. It is now at 14.6 percent as of July 20,” OCTA Research Team’s Dr. Guido David said in a tweet.

The OCTA said it remained unclear what was driving the change in trends.

“It is also not clear at this time when the peak will be reached in the NCR,” it said.

The Department of Health on Thursday said 10,636 new Covid-19 cases had been recorded in Metro Manila the past two weeks.

David said the OCTA projected about 1,100 new cases in Metro Manila on July 22.
